We love Big Maths in Cuthbert class. Every Friday, we undertake two tests, but we actually enjoy doing so! This is because we dance to the jingles which introduce the tests. Some of us enjoy doing this more than others!
We love reading. Every day we have an Accelerated Reading session. This is where we read a book before taking a short test on the computer to test our understanding. The more we understand, the more points we can earn. The person who has read the most words each week gets a special certificate in Celebration assembly. Additionally, we get stickers for achieving 100% in any one test. It’s great because not only are we improving our reading, but getting rewards for doing so. So far this year, the 22 children in our class have read over 2.5 million words!
During our study of Ancient Greece, we designed and made some coins featuring Alexander the Great (after we’d researched him and his peers). As he renamed towns and countries after himself, we thought it would be good to create coins with his face on them. We enjoyed making them, although some of us found it a challenge to actually draw his face!
Luckily, our class have received weekly visits from the FISCH team. During these sessions, we have been taught how to keep fit and healthy. We’ve undertaken some great games during PE sessions in the hall, as well as taking part in challenges, such as drinking water and eating a healthy breakfast.
Is it a bird, is it a plane or a UFO? We had some very unusual sightings in and around Cuthbert class earlier this year. Luckily, we were able to take some photographs of some unidentified flying objects which we spotted. We used the photographs to write recounts in English lessons. We loved using our imaginations to let others answer the question … U.F.O. Real or Fake?
