Areas of Learning
Our nursery provides pre-school education for children aged 2-4 years. We have a 39 place nursery offering 15 hours free early learning care and development to 3 and 4 year olds from the term after the child turns 3. These 15 hours can be taken between the hours of 8.30am and 3.15pm as 5 half day sessions or a mix of full and half days with lunch. Parents can also pay to add extra sessions – up to 3 hours and 45 minutes a session for £12.50. We also offer ‘Play and Learn’ sessions of 15 hours per week for eligible 2 year olds. Pop in for an application form or download one from http://content.durham.gov.uk/PDFRepository/Application2yearoldprovision.pdf
Our nursery is a fully integrated part of the school with well-equipped indoor and extensive outdoor areas where children can find out about the natural world and develop physically, socially and intellectually. All staff are highly qualified with a fully qualified teacher and dedicated members of the team.
If you would like to apply for a nursery place, please pop in to the school reception and fill in an application form. Visits to the nursery are warmly welcomed.
What will my child learn at Bullion Lane Nursery?
The EYFS consists of seven areas of learning and development. Each has a number of ‘Early Learning Goals’ which most children are expected to achieve by the end of the Reception year in school, and broad stages of development which help show children’s progress towards the goals.
Children should firstly develop three prime areas:
• Communication and language
• Physical development
• Personal, social and emotional development
The prime areas are most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning.
The prime areas will help develop skills in four areas:
• Understanding the world
• Expressive arts and design
We use these seven areas to plan your child’s learning and activities. The teacher and Key Workers supporting your child will make sure that activities are suited to your child’s unique needs.
