In maths we learn lots of new skills. We carry out investigations to help us understand. We used sweets to help us understand fractions. To help us find the place value of 3 and 4 digit numbers we used place value counters and worked in a team to partition the numbers.
In the spring term we have read the story of the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We have used this story to help us write character descriptions using similes and a diary entry about the day Hogarth met the Iron Man. We have used part of the story in a drama lesson in which we worked in groups to retell the story using actions and expressions.
We carry out investigations in science to help us develop our working scientifically skills and test our predictions. This term we are learning all about electricity and have spent time exploring how to make a complete circuit with different components. We have even created our own Kung Fu movements to help us remember the symbols for bulbs, batteries, switches, wires and buzzers.
