These photos show just some of the activities we have been taking part in this year …
We went to visit Hall Hill farm at Lanchester to find out about the different kinds of animals that live on a farm. We held the new-born chicks and the rabbits and guinea pigs. We then took turns feeding the hungry lambs, holding on very tightly to the bottle.
We fed food to the sheep and goats before going for a tractor ride. We all enjoyed that! After lunch, we had time to play in the play areas before returning to nursery on the coach. There were a few sleepy heads on the way home after our very busy day.
We held our own Royal Weddings to celebrate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan. The guests wore red, white and blue as they waved their Union Jack flags. Both of our brides and bridesmaids looked beautiful on the day as the grooms waited nervously at the altar –well the timber village. We sang, we danced and we ate finger sandwiches, with crisps and cup cakes. The sun was shining and everyone was smiling. What a fabulous day!
It was a gorgeously sunny day today for Forest School. We found six spotty eggs left by Sparkle, The Firebird who lives in a nearby wood on Waldridge Fell. We then made new nests to protect the eggs using the sticks, leaves and feathers from our garden.
For doing that job, the Goblin left strands of his hair on the branches of the trees, which we used to make magical bracelets. Twisting the different coloured hair around and tying them around our wrists.
We then looked around the garden for signs of spring, collecting small pieces of leaves, petals and grasses on our sticky cards. We tried to collect as many different colours as we could.
Because we had worked so hard, we were allowed to toast some marshmallows on the fire to eat. Yum, yum.
We have had a visit from Ben and Jet –Durham Constabulary’s community safety dogs who go into schools with their handler PC Claire Kerr. PC Claire talked to us about how the police keep us safe and showed us the different forms of transport that they use. We got to try on the police hats and jackets and then met Ben and Jet. Ben is only a puppy but they both allowed us to give them a stroke while Claire gave them some treats.
