Welcome to Pelaw 1 – Reception
In Reception we have an outdoor classroom, which we use every day, and as much as we want! There are lots of things to do – children can practise mark-making and writing, number work and investigation skills. They can keep fit with physical activity and use role play to learn. Being outside means children can experience the outdoors in a safe and exploratory way – how the seasons change, what the weather is doing or just what it feels like to do familiar things in a different environment. The freedom of movement the outdoor provides is a lovely opportunity for children to learn things in a way that really uses all of the senses. We change our outdoor classroom regularly so there is always something new to experience!
We enjoy going to the library and like to listen to some of the older children read to us.
We are learning lots of letter sounds and like to practise them during our play.
We practise writing letters on our friend’s backs-it can be very tickly!
How big is the gazebo? We are using a tape measure to find out.
We are practising writing numbers in the shaving foam and hair conditioner.
How many pots of water did we fill?
We love to play football.
Some of us liked the pumpkin soup we made, some of us didn’t!
Whose car rolled the furthest?
The wind blew the roof off our house so we worked together to fix it.
We like to share toys and play together.
What are we painting on? Look at the concentration on our faces!
