On the first day back we followed instructions to decorate smiley biscuits. We mixed icing sugar and water with food colouring. Then we added eyes and a nose. Finally we drew on a smiley mouth with an icing pen. They tasted delicious!
The following day we made jam tarts. We made pastry and left it to cool. In the afternoon we rolled it out and added jam. The school cook kindly offered to put them in her oven. After they had cooled down, we could eat them.
In Science year 3 have been finding out how sound travels. We felt the vibrations.
We used the 100 square floor tiles to help us to add, subtract and find patterns. First we placed the floor tiles down. Then we used them to find patterns. We added on 10, 20, 30… Then we subtracted 3 from multiples of 10 and discussed the pattern. What happens if you take away 10?
MULTI CULTURAL WEEK OCTOBER 2017
We studied India. We found out that the national bird of India is the peacock. We read stories about peacocks and wrote a fact sheet. We also used our measuring skills to draw 12 lines around the peacock, each one was 12 cm exactly. We also tried to draw the lines symmetrically. Next we made a template to cut out the body, base of the tail and the crest. Then we needed to turn our lines into feathers. Finally we added eye spots and details to the crest and the tail. Don’t they look fantastic!
We felt the material and looked at the repeating patterns. We discussed whether they were symmetrical.
We followed instructions to make cucumber raita and mango chutney. Then we tasted a range of Indian food.
