School Return March 8th

3rd March 2021 By sharonmaughan

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday. We will be continuing to follow the procedures we put in place last term to keep everyone as safe as possible. Parents will be contacted regularly with any updates messaged on the Class Dojo. Thank you for all the home-learning that has taken place, I know it hasn’t been easy, but you have done a brilliant job.

Fingers crossed we are back for good now!

December News

15th December 2020 By sharonmaughan

Dear Parents/Carers,

Well, what a term! Thank you to everyone who has made it a successful one. Thank you to all parents/carers for your patience and understanding, and for working together with us to ensure your children have been as safe and happy as possible.

I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.

Christmas Jumper Day

Thanks to all of you who brought in 50p last week to help raise money for ‘Save the Children’. There were some super, sparkly jumpers from both the staff and children so thank you for your generosity.

Children in Need

Thank you to everyone who wore a colour of the rainbow or non-uniform on Children in Need day to help raise money.

We raised £134.21 for a very good cause.

Food Bank

Thank you to Rachel Fawcett for her suggestion about the Food Bank, and to everyone who brought in tins/packets as a donation.

Poppy Appeal

Thank you to everyone who brought in donations for the Poppy Appeal and bought either reflectors, zip pulls, wristbands or snap bands. We raised £430.03 which is fantastic.

Sponsored Event

Your children raised a fantastic £1203.80 for the Match box Challenge. This will go into school funds and will be spent on the children.

Community Carol Service

Reverend Simon from our local church broadcasted a contemporary carol service on Facebook last Sunday evening. Finley Curry, Paige McKenzie and Cole Wilson took part. Very well done to those 3 They did us proud!!

October Update

15th October 2020 By sharonmaughan

Thank you so much,  to all parents and carers,  for following the guidance given and for having such wonderful children, who have coped magnificently with all the changes we have had to put in place in school. They are a credit to you all.

I hope children and parents,  from classes who are self isolating, are keeping well and staying safe.

School Return – Wednesday 2nd September

30th August 2020 By sharonmaughan

Welcome back!
I hope everyone has had a good summer and is looking forward to being back at school? All children in Y1 to Y6 start back at school on Wednesday 2nd September. Nursery and Reception have been given different timings. Please read through the information posted out in July to make sure you know which entrance and times your child/children should be dropped off and picked up at.
All safety measures previously mentioned are in place so that we have made the environment as safe as possible for everyone. You will receive more information on Wednesday giving you further details about what is happening in school.

Summer News

16th July 2020 By sharonmaughan

Dear Parents/Carers,

Well, what a surreal 5 months this has been. Hopefully in September we will slowly be able to get things back to normal as much as possible. You should all have received your child’s report along with important information for next term.

We said thank you, and good-bye to Mrs Irvin on Tuesday, and wish her a long and happy retirement. She will be a big miss as she has been part of Bullion Lane for 18 years.

I would like to welcome a new member of staff, Mr Gardner, who will be teaching in Wear class next year. Other staff changes are as follows: Mrs Jennings will be full time in Reception, Ms Baird will be in Y3/4 Lambton, Mrs Scott and Mrs Hedges will both be in Y4/5 Waldridge, and Mr Stephenson will be teaching in Y6, Bede class.

A risk assessment has been completed related to the full opening of schools from September, please see the attachment (in Safeguarding section).

I would just like to say thank you to all the staff for their hard work and commitment, not only through this time, but all the way through the year.

I would also like to say thank you all of you who have worked exceptionally hard with your children, your ‘Rainbow Children,’ who have lived through lockdown, which will be remembered through history.

I hope you all have a lovely summer with hopefully more freedom than the last 5 months, and I look forward to seeing everyone in September.

Take care and stay safe,

Miss Barningham.

A huge ‘Thank You’ to Mrs Irvin!

29th June 2020 By sharonmaughan

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to inform you that Mrs Irvin has decided that it is time to retire from Bullion Lane Primary School at the end of this term.

I have had the pleasure and privilege to work with Mrs Irvin for the past 9 years. During this time, she has always been a true professional. She is an outstanding teacher, whose commitment and dedication has ensured that all children in her care have left her class making exceptional progress, reaching their potential and ready for the next stage of education.

Her knowledge and ability to teach are exemplary. The lessons she teaches are motivating and inspiring, engaging all children so that they want to succeed.

I would like to express my sincere thanks for her teamwork, reliability, support and humour as a valuable member of our team, she will be missed.

It is such a shame that these unfortunate circumstances have meant that after 18 years at Bullion Lane, Mrs Irvin has been unable to enjoy her last term here with all children and staff in school.

However, I hope you will join me in wishing her a very long, happy and rewarding retirement for many years ahead.

Thank you,

Your sincerely,

Sarah Barningham (Head Teacher)
